The US Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is handing out a share of $1.3m to three States to inform vehicle owners about open recalls.

Motor vehicle departments in California, Ohio and Texas will use the funds to provide recall information with vehicle registration and at other points of contact.

“The US Department of Transportation is proud to work with these three States on this common sense solution to help drivers find and repair unremedied vehicles on American roadways,” said Acting US Transportation Secretary, Steven Bradbury.

The recall notice will include a brief description of the defect, the nature of the recall, and information on getting it fixed immediately at a manufacturer’s authorized dealer.
