There were 182 work-related traumatic injury fatalities in Australia in 2016, of which 99 (54%) involved a vehicle, according to a new report.

State of the Road, A Fact Sheet of the Centre for Accident Research & Road Safety – Queensland (CARRS-Q)” collates the latest statistics relating to work-related safety. It also details relevant legislation and explains the importance of work-related safety.

“All members of a workplace have the obligation to maintain the health and safety of themselves and others, regardless of whether they are owners, managers, employees or visitors to a workplace,” the report states.

The Centre for Accident Research & Road Safety – Queensland (CARRS-Q) was established in 1996 as a joint venture initiative of the Motor Accident Insurance Commission (MAIC) and Queensland University of Technology (QUT) to address the human, economic and social costs resulting from road crashes.
