A road safety initiative which completed three years ago in the Kaizhou District, Chongqing, China, is continuing to have a positive impact on the community.

Government and education leaders in the area met with members of the AIP Foundation at a workshop to report on the ongoing positive impact of the Walk Wise program since its completion in 2017.

The child-focused road safety and awareness program in Kaizhou reached over 335,000 students, teachers and parents in 85 schools during the five years it ran.

The Kaizhou District is a mountainous region with steep, narrow hills and winding paths, making residents more vulnerable to road injuries and crashes.

The workshop highlighted road safety practices that were initially introduced in the program’s implementation process that are still used today.

Teachers have continued with walking school buses and yellow caps are still being worn by students to ensure they are visible on the road.
