Employers in Oklahoma have been celebrated for going the extra mile to keep their employees safe on the road.

The National Safety Council recognized seven companies at the inaugural Our Driving Concern Oklahoma Employer Traffic Safety Awards.

Dolese Bros. Co. and Tulsa County Library were awarded “Exemplary Distinction” for making traffic safety a priority for employees both at work and at home. Five other employers were highlighted in Award and Honorable Mention categories.

Nearly 200 crashes occur every day on Oklahoma roads, according to data from the Oklahoma Highway Safety Office.

“Employers play a critical role in working to keep everyone safe,” said Lisa Robinson, NSC Senior Program Manager and Head of Our Driving Concern. “Safety principles learned on the job often are carried home. We are proud to call out these Oklahoma organizations for leading in a culture shift not unlike the movement that led to a ban on smoking in public places.”
