The Michigan House of Representatives’ Transportation and Infrastructure Committee has approved a bill that requires the state’s driver training curriculum to include instruction on what to do if pulled over by law enforcement.

Authored by Rep. Peter Lucido, the bill requires people going through drivers education be taught how to behave during a traffic stop. Currently, in Michigan, this is not an educational requirement.

Lucido says a similar law was recently introduced in Illinois to ensure the safety of the public and police officers.

Bill 4705 has moved to the full House of Representatives for consideration.
