There is no evidence to support concerns that drivers equipped with an Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) system fail to adequately reduce their speed when conditions warrant it, a new report from SWOV has found.

Both with and without ISA, drivers adjust their speed and, under unfavorable traffic conditions, drive below the speed limit the report revealed.

The study was conducted by SWOV using a driving simulator. The research found no negative impact of ISA on speed in adverse conditions such as fog and congested environments. In these scenarios, which call for lower speeds, drivers did not drive faster than they would without ISA.
