Ireland’s Office for Emergency Planning (OEP) has launched a campaign to warn the public about the specific dangers associated with summer.

The Be Summer-Ready campaign 2020 aims to provide information about summer hazards, including those on the roads.

“Unfortunately, there is a spike in pedestrian, cyclist and motorcyclist casualties over the summer,” the campaign warns. “The fine weather brings more people out and about. As drivers, we need to be on the lookout for them. Slow down and expect the unexpected.

The campaign highlights the dangers of drinking after consuming alcohol, as well as the dangers associated with an increase in agricultural vehicles on the road.
