Drivers of two Kia models are being urged to get their vehicles repaired due to the risk of fire.

Kia Motors America has issued a safety recall for 379,931 select 2017 – 2021 Sportage and Cadenza vehicles.

The manufacturers have said the electrical circuit in the hydraulic electronic control unit in these vehicles may short circuit, which could cause a fire in the engine compartment.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has advised owners of the cars to park them outside and away from homes until their vehicles have been repaired.

More information can be seen in the recall report.

Vehicle owners can visit NHTSA.gov/recalls and enter their 17-digit vehicle identification number to see if their vehicle is under recall. If it is, vehicle owners should call their nearest dealership immediately to schedule a free interim repair.
