Now, if a driver reports that a rider isn\u2019t wearing a mask, the rider will be required to take a selfie with their face covered before they\u2019re able to take another trip with Uber.<\/p>\n<p>The mask verification feature will roll out to the U.S. and Canada by the end of September, and across Latin America and other countries after that.<\/p>\n<p>Riders and drivers are free to cancel a trip, without penalty, if the other person isn\u2019t wearing a mask.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.uber.com\/newsroom\/protecting-one-another\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Read more<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Uber is expanding its mask verification technology to riders, after requiring drivers on Uber and delivery drivers on Uber Eats to use the technology before commencing their trips.
