{"id":10091,"date":"2020-10-01T22:17:20","date_gmt":"2020-10-01T22:17:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/?p=10091"},"modified":"2020-10-01T22:17:20","modified_gmt":"2020-10-01T22:17:20","slug":"highways-england-launches-new-services-for-disabled-drivers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/highways-england-launches-new-services-for-disabled-drivers\/","title":{"rendered":"Highways England launches new services for disabled drivers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Highways England has introduced two new services in a bid to make it easier for disabled people to use England\u2019s motorways and major A roads.<\/p>\n<p>The initiatives include the option for deaf people to be able to communicate with the organisation using British Sign Language and the introduction of access guides to help explain the facilities offered at motorway service areas.<\/p>\n<p>The guides, which are available on an app, have accessibility information on more than 100 service areas covering parking, toilets, petrol stations, shops and restaurants.<\/p>\n<p>Highways England says disabled drivers represent five percent of the driving population.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe always encourage everyone to plan their journeys before setting off and appreciate that for some people this isn\u2019t as easy as for others,\u201d said Highways England Customer Service Director, Melanie Clarke.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s why we\u2019re launching new services, to break down barriers and help people reliably plan and feel confident about their journeys.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Highways England has introduced two new services in a bid to make it easier for disabled people to use England\u2019s motorways and major A roads.
