{"id":10287,"date":"2020-12-11T19:21:18","date_gmt":"2020-12-11T19:21:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/?p=10287"},"modified":"2020-12-11T19:21:18","modified_gmt":"2020-12-11T19:21:18","slug":"report-a-reckless-driver-plea-to-nsw-residents","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/report-a-reckless-driver-plea-to-nsw-residents\/","title":{"rendered":"Report a reckless driver plea to NSW residents"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new safety campaign has been launched in New South Wales (NSW), Australia, aimed at stopping drink, drug, dangerous and distracted driving.<\/p>\n<p>The Four Ds campaign aims to help police identify drivers breaking the law before their actions become fatal and urges members of the public to report anyone they know or see who is drink, drug, dangerous or distracted driving.<\/p>\n<p>The initiative has been launched by Minister for Police and Emergency Services David Elliott, Minister for Roads Andrew Constance, the Traffic and Highway Patrol Command and Crime Stoppers (NSW).<\/p>\n<p>Crime Stoppers NSW CEO Peter Price said he hoped the community\u2019s involvement would help improve safety and accountability on NSW roads.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNever before have we asked the community to report these crimes and NSW Crime Stoppers is the first, not only in Australia, but around the world, to initiate this campaign,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is one of the most important campaigns we have ever embarked upon. These traffic issues are an offence and these offences often lead to innocent people being injured or killed which is absolutely devastating for their families.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>280 people have died on NSW roads so far this year from 1 January 2020 to 26 November 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The Traffic and Highway Patrol Command has highlighted some ways road users can report the Four Ds without jeopardising their own safety or breaking the law:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Use a passenger to record the time of the incident and the registration of the driver\u2019s vehicle.<\/li>\n<li>If possible, keep dashcam vision of the incident and provide it to Crime Stoppers (NSW) or police.<\/li>\n<li>If it\u2019s an emergency \u2013 where there is a threat to life or someone\u2019s safety \u2013 call Triple Zero (000) through a passenger, hands-free, or pull over somewhere safe.<\/li>\n<li>If it\u2019s not an emergency, contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new safety campaign has been launched in New South Wales (NSW), Australia, aimed at stopping drink, drug, dangerous and distracted driving.
