{"id":10382,"date":"2021-01-20T20:20:44","date_gmt":"2021-01-20T20:20:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/?p=10382"},"modified":"2021-01-20T20:20:44","modified_gmt":"2021-01-20T20:20:44","slug":"big-bus-helps-young-victorians-make-safer-travel-choices","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/big-bus-helps-young-victorians-make-safer-travel-choices\/","title":{"rendered":"Big bus helps young Victorians make safer travel choices"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A big bus kitted out with a nostalgic milk bar and chill-out zone is being used to help educate young people in Victoria, Australia, about road safety.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tac.vic.gov.au\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Transport Accident Commission\u2019s<\/a> \u201cBig V\u201d bus will travel to coastal locations this summer as part of its <em>Vanessa<\/em> program, which aims to teach the current generation of young drivers how they can keep themselves and their friends safe on the roads.<\/p>\n<p>Vanessa staff will encourage young people to think about how they\u2019re getting back to their accommodation safely \u2013 both after a night out and after a few days of partying.<\/p>\n<p>Staff will also remind new P-platers about their license responsibilities, especially given the peer environment they will find themselves in.<\/p>\n<p>TAC\u2019s Head of Marketing and Communications, Jo Whyte, says the Big V is an important way for TAC to communicate the road safety message to young drivers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know there are a range of factors that make young drivers far more vulnerable to crashes and injury, which is why Vanessa is so important in helping young drivers to make informed choices,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want them to embrace a culture of looking out for mates and planning ahead before a long drive.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>More information about Vanessa is available <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vanessabus.com.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">online<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A big bus kitted out with a nostalgic milk bar and chill-out zone is being used to help educate young people in Victoria, Australia, about road safety.
