{"id":10559,"date":"2021-04-09T23:47:14","date_gmt":"2021-04-09T23:47:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/?p=10559"},"modified":"2021-04-09T23:47:14","modified_gmt":"2021-04-09T23:47:14","slug":"new-truck-driver-training-to-improve-road-safety-in-british-columbia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/new-truck-driver-training-to-improve-road-safety-in-british-columbia\/","title":{"rendered":"New truck driver training to improve road safety in British Columbia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mandatory commercial truck driver training is being introduced in British Columbia (B.C.) to improve road safety.<\/p>\n<p>Mandatory entry-level training (MELT) will need to be completed by Class 1 commercial driver licence applicants and will exceed the minimum requirements set by the National Safety Code.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHaving mandatory entry-level commercial vehicle training will result in better-trained new drivers and improved road safety for everyone in British Columbia,\u201d said Rob Fleming, Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve worked collaboratively with the trucking industry to create a new MELT program for B.C. that will strengthen the industry and prepare drivers to operate safely across B.C.\u2019s challenging climates.
