High visibility patrols are being carried out along key routes \u2013 identified as risk areas \u2013 and officers will be checking that bikes are roadworthy, paying particular attention to tyres.<\/p>\n<p>Motorcyclists are amongst the most vulnerable groups of road users, and they are at a higher risk of injury and collision than other road users. In 2020 there were 70 motorcyclists killed or seriously injured in North Wales.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur officers \u2013 as well as partners from other emergency services see far too many tragedies, many preventable on the roads,\u201d said Chief Inspector Jon Aspinall from the Roads Policing Unit at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.northwales.police.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">North Wales Police<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cStaying safe on the road applies to every single one of us, whether we have two or four wheels on our vehicle. I would urge riders and drivers to think about their behaviour and what changes they could make to improve their own safety and that of other road users.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOp Darwen is not about spoiling people\u2019s fun but encourages all road users to be safe and competent with the aim of reducing the number of collisions on our roads.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A road safety campaign aimed at reducing motorcycle-related deaths and serious injuries is underway across Wales.
