{"id":10787,"date":"2021-07-23T15:00:22","date_gmt":"2021-07-23T15:00:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/?p=10787"},"modified":"2021-07-21T18:15:02","modified_gmt":"2021-07-21T18:15:02","slug":"nhtsa-shares-anti-theft-advice-for-vehicle-owners","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/nhtsa-shares-anti-theft-advice-for-vehicle-owners\/","title":{"rendered":"NHTSA shares anti-theft advice for vehicle owners"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The U.S. Department of Transportation\u2019s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is continuing its annual Vehicle Theft Prevention campaign throughout July.<\/p>\n<p>In support of the campaign, NHTSA is highlighting\u00a0the potential for motor vehicle theft, preventive measures vehicle owners should take, the importance of addressing the vehicle theft problem, and its significant economic impact.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFinding that your vehicle has been stolen can be a stressful event,\u201d said Dr. Steven Cliff, NHTSA\u2019s Acting Administrator. \u201cVehicle theft is driven by money and greed, a dangerous business that victimizes everyone, but fortunately, drivers can take precautions to reduce the risk of it happening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Below are NHTSA\u2019s tips to help prevent vehicle theft.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Park in well-lit areas.<\/li>\n<li>Close and lock all windows and doors when you park.<\/li>\n<li>Put away your valuables.<\/li>\n<li>Do not leave your keys in your vehicle.<\/li>\n<li>Do not leave the area while your vehicle is running.<\/li>\n<li>Remember to lock your vehicle every time you walk away to prevent vehicle theft.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For more information on motor vehicle theft prevention, visit\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhtsa.gov\/node\/37356\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NHTSA.gov\/theft<\/a>.
