{"id":10838,"date":"2021-08-23T10:00:57","date_gmt":"2021-08-23T10:00:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/?p=10838"},"modified":"2021-09-07T18:21:21","modified_gmt":"2021-09-07T18:21:21","slug":"new-tool-could-identify-safe-younger-truck-drivers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/new-tool-could-identify-safe-younger-truck-drivers\/","title":{"rendered":"New tool could identify safe younger truck drivers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The American Transportation Research Institute (ATRI) says a new assessment tool could help to identify safe, younger drivers.<\/p>\n<p>The ATRI has released the results of its Phase 1 Beta Test of its <a href=\"https:\/\/truckingresearch.org\/2021\/08\/04\/developing-a-younger-driver-assessment-tool-tech-memo-phase-1-beta-test-august-2021\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Younger Driver Assessment Tool<\/a> which it says \u201cshowed promise\u201d in differentiating safer drivers from less safe drivers.<\/p>\n<p>The test administered a comprehensive assessment battery to current commercial truck drivers aged from 20 to 60 years old.<\/p>\n<p>Personality traits, reasoning, impulsivity, sensation-seeking, sleep quality, and cognitive control were tested as well as drivers\u2019 safety performance using motor vehicle record and pre-employment screening program data on safety violations and crash involvement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiven all the internal and external pressures on driver recruitment and retention, it is safe to say that the driver shortage crisis is not going away,\u201d said Joyce Brenny, Brenny Transportation, Inc.
