{"id":10928,"date":"2021-10-15T18:20:55","date_gmt":"2021-10-15T18:20:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/?p=10928"},"modified":"2021-10-15T18:20:55","modified_gmt":"2021-10-15T18:20:55","slug":"safety-plea-to-florida-road-users-during-national-pedestrian-safety-month","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/safety-plea-to-florida-road-users-during-national-pedestrian-safety-month\/","title":{"rendered":"Safety plea to Florida road users during National Pedestrian Safety Month"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As October marks National Pedestrian Safety Month, new data has revealed 21 percent of Florida road deaths last year involved pedestrians.<\/p>\n<p>Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (FLHSMV), its division of the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), and public safety partners across the state, have joined forces this month to remind drivers and pedestrians that staying safe on Florida\u2019s roadways is a shared responsibility.<\/p>\n<p>FLHSMV and partners are sharing tips and educational information throughout the month to help keep motorists and pedestrians safe.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLast year, we lost more than 700 Floridians \u2013 our friends, family members, neighbors, and coworkers \u2013 in senseless and preventable pedestrian-involved crashes,\u201d said FLHSMV Executive Director, Terry L. Rhodes.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPedestrian safety is not a one-way street \u2013 it\u2019s the responsibility of all road users, and it\u2019s crucial that motorists and pedestrians alike stay alert and look out for one another\u2019s safety.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2020, there were 8,107 crashes involving a pedestrian in Florida, resulting in 712 fatalities \u2013 21 percent of all traffic fatalities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>As October marks National Pedestrian Safety Month, new data has revealed 21 percent of Florida road deaths last year involved pedestrians.
