Transport Accident Commission (TAC)<\/a> initiative, \u201cBe the reason they get home safe\u201d launched to coincide with Victorians being able to travel anywhere in the state for the first time in a long time.<\/p>\n\u201cWe are urging everyone to be extra vigilant when they hit the road as restrictions continue to ease across the state,\u201d said Minister for Roads Ben Carroll.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe message couldn\u2019t be clearer \u2013 plan ahead, slow down, don\u2019t drink or drug drive, put your phone away & make safe choices.\u201d<\/p>\n
Already 207 people have died on Victoria roads this year – nine percent higher than the same time last year, and police have reported an increase in speeding offences and collisions involving drink driving.<\/p>\n
The campaign will run in the lead-up to Christmas and over summer as more people take road trips, visit family and friends and head to events.<\/p>\n
This campaign is part of the Government\u2019s Victorian Road Safety Strategy 2021-2030, which aims to halve road deaths by 2030 and put the country on a strong path to eliminate all road deaths by 2050.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
