{"id":11099,"date":"2021-12-21T17:41:55","date_gmt":"2021-12-21T17:41:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/?p=11099"},"modified":"2021-12-21T17:41:55","modified_gmt":"2021-12-21T17:41:55","slug":"funding-awarded-to-investigate-new-speed-assistance-technology","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/funding-awarded-to-investigate-new-speed-assistance-technology\/","title":{"rendered":"Funding awarded to investigate new speed assistance technology"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Road Safety Trust has awarded \u00a3195k to two universities to promote Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) as a way of reducing speed-related road traffic collisions.<\/p>\n<p>The University of Sheffield, in partnership with the University of Greenwich, will use the funding to investigate ISA \u2013 an in-car technology that helps drivers remain within the speed limit.<\/p>\n<p>ISA is expected to become a common feature in UK vehicles over the next ten years and the Road Safety Trust believes the technology could reduce serious road traffic crashes by up to 30 percent.<\/p>\n<p>The project aims to understand the context of ISA introduction and to develop ways to enhance ISA uptake and usage.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cRealising ISA\u2019s potential safety benefits depends on how it is adopted by drivers,\u201d said Professor Richard Rowe, from the University of Sheffield.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe will be investigating how ISA can be most effectively introduced to save the most lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Road Safety Trust is dedicated to achieving zero deaths and serious injuries on UK roads and has funded over \u00a31million for technology-focused road safety projects through its main theme grants this year.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Road Safety Trust has awarded \u00a3195k to two universities to promote Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) as a way of reducing speed-related road traffic collisions.
