Lunar New Year falls on Tuesday, February 1, officially starting the Year of the Tiger.<\/p>\n

While full-scale festivities may not go ahead in many parts of the world due to the Omicron variant of COVID-19, it\u2019s likely that the event, an official holiday in China, will still be celebrated by millions.<\/p>\n

For anyone intending to travel during Lunar New Year, eDriving is sharing the following road safety tips:<\/p>\n

  1. Adhere to international, national, and regional COVID-19 travel guidance, and check the rules in your intended destination. See link below for COVID safety tips.<\/li>\n
  2. Plan trips in advance, considering the best routes and times to travel. In places where Lunar New Year is a holiday, roads are likely to be busier than usual.<\/li>\n
  3. Check your vehicle before setting out, remembering fluid levels, tires, lights, brakes, battery, wiper blades, and fuel.<\/li>\n
  4. Wear a helmet and other suitable safety clothing if riding a two-wheeler.<\/li>\n
  5. Buckle up \u2013 and make sure everyone in your vehicle wears their seat belt too.<\/li>\n
  6. Follow the rules of the road \u2013 remembering that rules may differ when driving in other states\/countries.<\/li>\n
  7. Be aware of the \u201cTriple Threat\u201d: Speeding, Distraction and Fatigue. These are three of the biggest threats to road safety \u2013 see links below for related safety tips.<\/li>\n
  8. Drive defensively. This means looking out for the actions of others, and being prepared for the unexpected.<\/li>\n
  9. Watch out for pedestrians out celebrating. Expect more people on foot than usual; and remember that they could be impaired.<\/li>\n
  10. Share your intended route and ETA with a friend or loved one, so they know when to expect you.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
