{"id":13729,"date":"2022-03-28T14:08:25","date_gmt":"2022-03-28T14:08:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/?p=13729"},"modified":"2022-03-28T14:08:25","modified_gmt":"2022-03-28T14:08:25","slug":"report-calls-for-action-on-e-scooter-misuse","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/report-calls-for-action-on-e-scooter-misuse\/","title":{"rendered":"Report calls for action on e-scooter misuse"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Immediate action to address dangerous and illegal private e-scooter use in the UK is being called for by the Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety (PACTS).<\/p>\n<p>The organisation has made the recommendation in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pacts.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/PACTS-The-safety-of-private-e-scooters-in-the-UK-Final-Report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">new report<\/a> after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pacts.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/E-scooter-casualty-data-for-the-UK-2021-v9.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">gathering data of casualties<\/a> involving e-scooters, including riders and other road users.<\/p>\n<p>The data found that from July 2019-February 2022 there have been at least fifteen deaths involving e-scooters.<\/p>\n<p>PACTS was awarded a grant by the Road Safety Trust to collect data relating to incidents involving e-scooters.<\/p>\n<p>Its<a href=\"https:\/\/www.pacts.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/PACTS-The-safety-of-private-e-scooters-in-the-UK-Final-Report.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> report<\/a> summarises the findings and makes recommendations for regulation of private e-scooters \u2013 construction and use.<\/p>\n<p>PACTS has also hosted a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pacts.org.uk\/the-safety-of-private-e-scooters-in-the-uk-pacts-research\/#Webinar\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">webinar<\/a> with representatives from the NHS, insurance industry, police, road safety community, e-scooter operators and active travel sector.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Immediate action to address dangerous and illegal private e-scooter use in the UK is being called for by the Parliamentary Advisory Council for Transport Safety (PACTS).
