{"id":13779,"date":"2022-05-03T09:00:40","date_gmt":"2022-05-03T09:00:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/?p=13779"},"modified":"2022-04-29T17:05:42","modified_gmt":"2022-04-29T17:05:42","slug":"motorists-in-nsw-urged-to-slow-down-near-schools","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/motorists-in-nsw-urged-to-slow-down-near-schools\/","title":{"rendered":"Motorists in NSW urged to slow down near schools"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Road users in New South Wales are reminded to slow down and watch out for children now students have returned to school and school zones are operating.<\/p>\n<p>Motorists are urged to be extra careful while driving near schools, particularly near bus stops, school crossings and Kiss and Ride zones.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen bus lights flash, it is vital everyone slows down to 40km\/h because this means a bus is picking up or dropping off children,\u201d said Tara McCarthy, Deputy Secretary of Safety, Environment and Regulation at Transport for NSW.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHigher fines and demerit points apply for certain offences committed in an active school zone, such as speeding, parking, or stopping illegally, using a mobile phone illegally and illegal U-turns.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPlease don\u2019t put our kids\u2019 lives at risk. \u2018Just a bit over\u2019 can be the difference between being able to stop in time or not at all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The NSW Government has implemented several safety initiatives to improve the visibility of school zones including signage, road markings, flashing lights and more than 300 new school crossing supervisors.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Road users in New South Wales are reminded to slow down and watch out for children now students have returned to school and school zones are operating.
