{"id":13915,"date":"2022-08-01T09:00:50","date_gmt":"2022-08-01T09:00:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/?p=13915"},"modified":"2022-07-22T15:06:13","modified_gmt":"2022-07-22T15:06:13","slug":"uber-publishes-second-us-safety-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/uber-publishes-second-us-safety-report\/","title":{"rendered":"Uber publishes second US safety report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Uber has released its second <a href=\"https:\/\/www.uber.com\/us\/en\/about\/reports\/us-safety-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">US Safety Report<\/a> giving details of events that have taken place during its rides in the US.<\/p>\n<p>The report covers the years 2019 and 2020 and Uber said it reflected the impact of COVID-19 on business and trends across the US.<\/p>\n<p>The report showed the vast majority of trips on Uber\u2013more than 99.9 percent \u2013are completed without any safety report at all.<\/p>\n<p>It also shows there were 3,824 reports across the five most severe categories of sexual assault and misconduct. Compared to the first Safety Report, which covered 2017 and 2018, the rate of sexual assault reported on the Uber app decreased by 38 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>Uber\u2019s motor vehicle fatality rate is still half the national average. Consistent with national trends, more than half of the motor vehicle fatalities highlighted in the report include at least one risky behavior, such as impairment or speeding\u2014and 94 per cent were related to third-party drivers. Third parties were also the accused party in the majority of physical assault fatalities.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTo be clear, disclosing our safety data doesn\u2019t mean Uber\u2019s platform is less safe\u2014it means we\u2019re being more honest about the rare safety incidents that do occur,\u201d said Uber in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost companies won\u2019t talk about these tough issues, but pretending they don\u2019t exist only leaves everyone less safe. So we hope stakeholders, regulators and others will recognize, support and encourage proactive transparency efforts\u2014not blunt them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want Uber to be the safest way to go anywhere and get anything, and we\u2019ll continue to lead by taking an expert-driven, action-oriented, and transparent approach.
