{"id":13967,"date":"2022-09-12T14:04:46","date_gmt":"2022-09-12T14:04:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/?p=13967"},"modified":"2022-09-12T14:04:46","modified_gmt":"2022-09-12T14:04:46","slug":"plea-to-canadian-drivers-to-slow-down-for-school-buses","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/plea-to-canadian-drivers-to-slow-down-for-school-buses\/","title":{"rendered":"Plea to Canadian drivers to slow down for school buses"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Drivers in Canada are being urged to \u201cslow down\u201d and be \u201cattentive and patient\u201d as school buses get back on the road.<\/p>\n<p>With schoolchildren returning to the classrooms, Canada Safety Council is reminding drivers that the return of school buses has a significant impact on traffic patterns.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to take this opportunity to remind Canadians to slow down, be attentive and patient,\u201d said Canada Safety Council President and CEO Gareth Jones.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s do the things we each control to help ensure that children get to school and back safely.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Canada Safety Council has issued the following safety tips and reminders to motorists:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>When bus lights are flashing red motorists must stop and wait until they are turned off before proceeding.<\/li>\n<li>Certain areas of Canada have introduced a set of yellow lights, cautioning that the bus will soon stop, drivers should also begin to slow down.<\/li>\n<li>Unless the road is separated by a physical median, drivers should not pass a stopped bus in either direction.<\/li>\n<li>If the road is separated by a physical median, drivers must stop only if they are approaching the bus from behind.<\/li>\n<li>Motorists should drive slowly in school zones and residential neighbourhoods, leaving plenty of time and space to stop or to perform evasive manoeuvres as necessary.<\/li>\n<li>Be aware that school buses must always stop at rail crossings.<\/li>\n<li>Always comply with posted speed limits.
