{"id":14267,"date":"2023-05-04T14:35:58","date_gmt":"2023-05-04T14:35:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/?p=14267"},"modified":"2023-06-13T20:55:28","modified_gmt":"2023-06-13T20:55:28","slug":"new-research-on-motorcycle-protective-gear-will-boost-rider-safety","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/new-research-on-motorcycle-protective-gear-will-boost-rider-safety\/","title":{"rendered":"New research on motorcycle protective gear will boost rider safety"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pioneering new research on the production of motorcycle protective clothing could increase access to safer and more effective gear for riders.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.transport.nsw.gov.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Transport for New South Wales (NSW)<\/a> has funded the publication of a new guide to designing and manufacturing motorcycle protective clothing.<\/p>\n<p>Sally Webb, Deputy Secretary of Safety, Environment and Regulation at Transport for NSW said the new guide by Deakin University aims to increase the quality and effectiveness of motorcycle jackets and pants on the market by providing manufacturers with scientifically-based information.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSadly, 210 motorcyclists on average die in road crashes in Australia each year while more than 8,000 are hospitalised,\u201d said Ms. Webb.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEffective motorcycle protective clothing can make a significant difference in the event of a crash \u2013 reducing the risk and severity of rider injuries.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe information published in the guide will be extremely useful for manufacturers across the world, to determine the best materials and methods for making higher quality protective clothing for riders.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The guide was jointly funded by Transport for NSW and Road Safety Victoria and is available on the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.motocap.com.au\/reports\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">MotoCAP site.<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pioneering new research on the production of motorcycle protective clothing could increase access to safer and more effective gear for riders.
