Euro NCAP has revealed the first vehicles to achieve five stars under its new updated testing standards.<\/p>\n
This year the organization updated its safety testing protocol to include new systems in child presence detection, specifications for vehicle submergence as well as the latest technologies that detect – and respond – to motorcyclists and vulnerable road users.<\/p>\n
Two cars from Chinese manufacturer NIO the Large Family car ET5 and the Large SUV EL7 were the first vehicles to be tested under the scenarios.<\/p>\n
Euro NCAP said both vehicles delivered exceptional performance in most of the test cases.<\/p>\n
\u201cAs the new rating gets tougher, to be among the first cars tested might be slightly daunting,\u201d said Dr Michiel van Ratingen, Secretary General Euro NCAP.<\/p>\n
