{"id":14437,"date":"2023-09-18T16:10:21","date_gmt":"2023-09-18T16:10:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/?p=14437"},"modified":"2023-10-11T15:14:03","modified_gmt":"2023-10-11T15:14:03","slug":"campaigns-calls-for-safe-driving-all-year-round","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/campaigns-calls-for-safe-driving-all-year-round\/","title":{"rendered":"Campaign calls for safe driving all year round"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An annual month-long road safety campaign, encouraging Kiwi youth to lead their peers and influence those around them to make better road safety decisions has launched in New Zealand.<\/p>\n<p>Student-led organisation Kaitiaki o Ara\/SADD is kicking off its initiative, Student Advocates for Everyone\u2019s Road safety or <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sadd.org.nz\/safer-september\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SAFER September<\/a>, which is an opportunity for students to contribute to their community by leading and inspiring others to change their behaviour on the road for the better.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis month is an important one for all involved in our organisation,\u201d said Kaitiaki o Ara\/SADD General Manager, Donna Govorko.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWitnessing young Kiwis committing to reducing these numbers and reversing the curve that we are becoming too familiar with is incredibly motivating.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In 2022, 376 people died on New Zealand roads &#8211; more than one a day.\u00a0 As September 2023 begins &#8211; that number is currently 225 &#8211; a rate of 28 fatalities a month.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An annual month-long road safety campaign, encouraging Kiwi youth to lead their peers and influence those around them to make better road safety decisions has launched in New Zealand.
