More than 100 schools, councils and community organisations across Victoria are being supported to deliver community initiatives to help reduce road trauma.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s $1.5 million Community Road Safety Grants Program is supporting groups to deliver hundreds of road safety education initiatives and programs to keep communities safe.<\/p>\n
The 232 funded initiatives include education sessions and campaigns for vulnerable and at-risk drivers, cyclists and pedestrians as well as programs addressing issues such as fatigue and high-risk driver behaviour.<\/p>\n
Other initiatives include education sessions for newly arrived migrants to increase their Victorian road knowledge, learner and probationary driver programs, and anti-drink and drug driving programs for young Victorians.<\/p>\n
The program will also fund roadside banners, speed advisory signage and mobile billboards as part of targeted community awareness campaigns to deter high-risk behaviour like speeding, drink driving, using a mobile phone, or driving tired.<\/p>\n
This year\u2019s $1.5 million investment is in addition to the $6.4 million invested in the Community Road Safety Grants Program across Victoria in the past five years.<\/p>\n
