{"id":14967,"date":"2025-02-06T22:43:50","date_gmt":"2025-02-06T22:43:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/?p=14967"},"modified":"2025-02-06T22:43:50","modified_gmt":"2025-02-06T22:43:50","slug":"crackdown-on-impaired-driving-during-super-bowl","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/crackdown-on-impaired-driving-during-super-bowl\/","title":{"rendered":"Crackdown on impaired driving during Super Bowl"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New York State Police and local law enforcement agencies have participated in a national enforcement initiative on impaired driving ahead of the Super Bowl.<\/p>\n<p>The campaign, funded by the Governor\u2019s Traffic Safety Committee, targets underage drinking enforcement, along with increased patrols and sobriety checkpoints to deter, identify and arrest impaired drivers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs football fans gather across our state to watch the game on Sunday, I\u2019m directing State Police and local law enforcement to elevate their enforcement action to protect New Yorkers from the dangers of impaired and reckless driving,\u201d said Governor Hochul.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have no tolerance for anyone endangering themselves or others on the road, and I encourage everyone to take the responsible steps necessary to keep our communities safe.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>During the 2024 Super Bowl weekend campaign, law enforcement officers arrested 262 people for impaired driving and issued 8,388 total tickets.<\/p>\n<p>The New York State Police, the Governor\u2019s Traffic Safety Committee and National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have offered these tips to make sure football fans get home safely:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Always drive 100 percent sober. Even one alcoholic beverage could be one too many.<\/li>\n<li>Plan ahead: You have options to get home safely. Designate a sober driver or call a taxi or rideshare.<\/li>\n<li>If it\u2019s your turn to be the designated driver, take your job seriously and don\u2019t drink.<\/li>\n<li>If you see a drunk driver on the road, contact local law enforcement.<\/li>\n<li>If you have a friend who is about to drink and drive, take the keys away and let a sober driver get your friend home safely.<\/li>\n<li>Remember, if you serve a guest alcohol and he or she gets in a crash that night, you could be held liable.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New York State Police and local law enforcement agencies have participated in a national enforcement initiative on impaired driving ahead of the Super Bowl.
