{"id":15069,"date":"2025-05-01T15:00:48","date_gmt":"2025-05-01T15:00:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/?p=15069"},"modified":"2025-04-25T20:38:40","modified_gmt":"2025-04-25T20:38:40","slug":"bad-behavior-of-perth-drivers-captured-on-camera","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/bad-behavior-of-perth-drivers-captured-on-camera\/","title":{"rendered":"Bad behavior of Perth drivers captured on camera"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>More than 60,000 people have been caught using their mobile phone, not wearing a seatbelt or wearing it incorrectly since new safety cameras were introduced in Perth, Western Australia.<\/p>\n<p>The safety cameras, which have the capability to detect multiple offences simultaneously, including speeding, illegal mobile phone use, and seatbelt offences were turned on in January.<\/p>\n<p>Road Safety Commissioner Adrian Warner said the images sent a clear message about the need to change cultural attitudes around road safety responsibility.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat we are seeing is evidence that together as a society, we need to take ownership of road safety every time we get behind the wheel,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cQuite frankly what we\u2019re seeing has been truly disturbing and upsetting \u2013 children and babies unrestrained in front seat, people bypassing seatbelt alarms by jerry rigging the driver\u2019s buckle, use of laptops while driving at high speeds.<\/p>\n<p>He added: \u201cThe Road Safety Commission, together with WA Police and the Road Safety Minister are committed to targeting poor driver behaviour through behavioural change campaigns and new initiatives like the fixed and mobile safety cameras \u2013 but we need the community to wake-up and realise they are part of the solution.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>More than 60,000 people have been caught using their mobile phone, not wearing a seatbelt or wearing it incorrectly since new safety cameras were introduced in Perth, Western Australia.
