{"id":15149,"date":"2025-06-23T15:00:16","date_gmt":"2025-06-23T15:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/?p=15149"},"modified":"2025-06-16T17:57:08","modified_gmt":"2025-06-16T17:57:08","slug":"crackdown-on-fake-number-plates-sees-more-than-3000-ticket-issued","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/crackdown-on-fake-number-plates-sees-more-than-3000-ticket-issued\/","title":{"rendered":"Crackdown on fake number plates sees more than 3,000 ticket issued"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>More than 3,300 tickets were issued in New York state during the first-ever \u2018Operation Plate Check\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>The special enforcement effort took place from Saturday, April 26 through Saturday, May 3, to identify vehicles on New York State roadways with fictitious license plates and fake \u2018temp tags\u2019 in response to an increase in the use of fraudulent plates.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe safety of New Yorkers is my top priority, and this enforcement campaign reinforces ongoing efforts to crack down on individuals who are using fake and defaced plates to avoid paying tolls or detection by law enforcement,\u201d said Governor Kathy Hochul.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThanks to the efforts of the New York State Police and our partners in local law enforcement, we are sending a clear message to drivers: if you attempt to alter your license plate to avoid traffic cameras and toll readers, you will be caught.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The initiative was carried out by New York State Police, in collaboration with the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles and other State and local law enforcement agencies.<\/p>\n<p>During the campaign a total of 3,308 tickets were issued for license plate violations and 83 tickets issued for suspended registrations.
