Uber is launching senior accounts, designed to help older adults get around.<\/p>\n
Uber said the accounts included larger text, fewer buttons, and easy-to-follow screens and allowed loved ones to follow rides in real time and get alerts of any delays.<\/p>\n
The senior accounts are part of Uber\u2019s \u2018family profiles\u2019 feature and allows friends and family to help set up an account and offer support when needed.<\/p>\n
For older adults who prefer to ride independently, Uber has also added \u2018simple mode\u2019, which offers the same service but with no family profile required.<\/p>\n
Uber said it had created its senior accounts and simple mode in partnership with aging advocates, accessibility experts, and input from older adults themselves to ensure it better meets needs.<\/p>\n
\u201cTransportation is one of the biggest barriers to independence as people age,\u201d said Silvia Candamil Neira, Vice President, Global Initiative on Ageing and Longevity.<\/p>\n
\u201cSolutions like Uber\u2019s senior accounts help break down that barrier by offering a simple and flexible way for older adults to get where they need to go\u2014without always having to rely on others. It\u2019s about dignity, freedom, and staying connected to the people and places that matter most.\u201d<\/p>\n
