Colorado drivers are making strides toward safer roads, according to a new report.<\/p>\n
The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has released its 2025 Driver Behavior Report ahead of August\u2019s annual Traffic Safety Summit.<\/p>\n
It shows the number of unsafe driving behaviors committed per driver dropped for the second year in a row.<\/p>\n
The percentage of Colorado drivers who picked up a phone to make calls decreased from 42 per cent in 2024 to 34 per cent this year, and those that picked up a phone to send a message decreased from 30 per cent to 23 per cent.<\/p>\n
Ninety per cent of Colorado drivers also said they wear their seat belt all the time when driving.<\/p>\n
However, 36 per cent said they drive over the speed limit most or all the time on highways\/interstates. And 21 per cent of drivers said they had driven within two hours of consuming alcohol, cannabis, or impairing prescription drugs in the last 30 days.<\/p>\n
\u201cThis report gives us a clear picture of where progress has been made, and where challenges remain,\u201d said CDOT\u2019s Executive Director Shoshana Lew. \u201cThe Traffic Safety Summit provides an opportunity to turn data into action, and brings together a wide range of partners to shape effective, collaborative strategies for saving lives on Colorado\u2019s roads.\u201d<\/p>\n
This month\u2019s summit brings together more than 340 transportation professionals and safety advocates from across the state to address issues such-as impaired driving, distracted driving, pedestrian safety, speeding and seat belt use.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
