{"id":15261,"date":"2025-09-19T15:00:01","date_gmt":"2025-09-19T15:00:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/?p=15261"},"modified":"2025-09-18T20:36:16","modified_gmt":"2025-09-18T20:36:16","slug":"step-up-for-rural-road-safety","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/step-up-for-rural-road-safety\/","title":{"rendered":"Step up for rural road safety"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A powerful display featuring 820 pairs of shoes \u2013 each representing a life lost on Australia\u2019s rural roads in 2024 \u2013 formed the centerpiece for the launch of this year\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/arsf.com.au\/rural-road-safety-month\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rural Road Safety Month<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Held at Grafton\u2019s Market Square in New South Wales the launch also featured displays by the SES, NSW Police, NSW Fire Service and Rural Fire Service.<\/p>\n<p>Transport for NSW Senior Manager Community and Place Partner for North Coast Brad Crispin said the road safety message was as important as ever.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe theme of Rural Road Safety Month 2025 is Step Up for Road Safety,\u201d Mr. Crispin said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to encourage all members of the community to step up and do their bit for road safety, both through their behavior on the roads but also by talking to their friends and family and sharing road safety messages and urging them to step up too.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile country residents make up about one third of the state\u2019s population, more than two-thirds of the lives lost on NSW roads happen on regional roads.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe disproportionate death rate is in spite of improvements in vehicle safety technology, road upgrades and consistent messaging to slow down, take regular breaks and drive to the conditions.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Rural Road Safety Month is an Australian Road Safety Foundation initiative and supported by Transport for NSW.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A powerful display featuring 820 pairs of shoes \u2013 each representing a life lost on Australia\u2019s rural roads in 2024 \u2013 formed the centerpiece for the launch of this year\u2019s Rural Road Safety Month.
