More than 29.3 million vehicles were recalled, along with more than 600,000 car seats and 1.3 million tires.<\/p>\n<p>Motorists can check for recalls on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhtsa.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NHTSA\u2019s website<\/a> and recall repairs are free at vehicle manufacturer\u2019s dealership.<\/p>\n<p>The NHTSA said despite recall notices and public warnings, many vehicles and vehicle equipment are never repaired and offered the following advice on how to check for recalls.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Use <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhtsa.gov\/recalls\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NHTSA\u2019s Recalls Lookup Tool<\/a> to check your vehicle identification number, license plate number, or vehicle equipment for any open recalls.<\/li>\n<li>Download NHTSA\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhtsa.gov\/campaign\/safercar-app\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SaferCar<\/a> app and let it check automatically for you.<\/li>\n<li>If your vehicle does have a recall, call your automaker\u2019s local dealer to schedule the free recall repair.<\/li>\n<li>Follow any instructions from the automaker, including any \u201cdo not drive\u201d or \u201cpark outside\u201d warnings.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhtsa.gov\/email-subscriptions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Sign up for email notifications<\/a> for future safety recalls.<\/li>\n<li>If you think your vehicle may have a safety defect that isn\u2019t part of a current recall, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhtsa.gov\/report-a-safety-problem\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">contact NHTSA online<\/a> or call the agency\u2019s Vehicle Safety Hotline at 888-327-4236, Monday through Friday, 8am to 8pm Eastern.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is reminding everyone to check for open safety recalls on their vehicles and equipment after a near record number of recalls in 2024.
