{"id":15392,"date":"2026-02-05T15:00:32","date_gmt":"2026-02-05T15:00:32","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/?p=15392"},"modified":"2026-01-30T19:50:49","modified_gmt":"2026-01-30T19:50:49","slug":"motorists-urged-to-do-their-part-to-make-the-roads-safer","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/motorists-urged-to-do-their-part-to-make-the-roads-safer\/","title":{"rendered":"Motorists urged to \u2018do their part\u2019 to make the roads safer"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Victorian Government is urging motorists in the State to \u201cdo their part\u201d to keep roads safe.<\/p>\n<p>The plea has come as the Government makes reducing road trauma a focus in 2026, after it said too many lives were lost on Victoria\u2019s roads last year.<\/p>\n<p>Tragically 288 people lost their lives on the State\u2019s roads in 2025 compared with 284 in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>Last year the Government announced its Road Safety Action Plan 2 which aims to deliver life-saving road safety infrastructure and strengthen enforcement over the next four years to reduce road trauma across Victoria.<\/p>\n<p>An investment of more than $1.1 billion aims to halve road deaths and significantly reduce road trauma by 2030, including $350 million for new initiatives and critical safety infrastructure such as barriers on high-risk curves and along rural and urban roads.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe impact of road trauma is devastating and I extend my deepest condolences to every person impacted by it &#8211; not only in 2025, but every year,\u201d said Acting Minister for Roads and Road Safety Harriet Shing.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEvery life lost on our roads is one too many, which is why more than $1.1 billion has been allocated to making Victorian roads safer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI urge every Victorian to do their part to make sure everyone using our roads makes it to their destination safely.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Victorian Government is urging motorists in the State to \u201cdo their part\u201d to keep roads safe.
