{"id":15445,"date":"2026-04-06T15:00:51","date_gmt":"2026-04-06T15:00:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/?p=15445"},"modified":"2026-04-02T17:42:42","modified_gmt":"2026-04-02T17:42:42","slug":"do-not-drive-warning-issued-for-more-than-225000-vehicle","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/do-not-drive-warning-issued-for-more-than-225000-vehicle\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Do not drive\u2019 warning issued for more than 225,000 vehicle"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A \u201cdo not drive\u201d warning has been issued by FCA US for all remaining Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram vehicles with open and unrepaired Takata air bag recalls.<\/p>\n<p>Motorists with one of these vehicles, are urged not to drive it until the repair is completed and the defective air bag is replaced<strong>.<\/strong>\u00a0Recalls are free at the manufacturer\u2019s dealership.<\/p>\n<p>FCA said about 225,000 US vehicles are unrepaired, while more than 6.6 million air bag inflators in FCA vehicles have been replaced to date.<\/p>\n<p>NHTSA is urging all vehicle owners to immediately visit\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhtsa.gov\/recalls\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NHTSA.gov\/Recalls<\/a>\u00a0to see if their vehicle has an open Takata air bag recall. If it is under recall, owners should contact their dealership to schedule a free repair as soon as possible and not drive the vehicle until it is repaired. Owners can call FCA\u2019s customer service hotline at\u00a0<a href=\"tel:8335850144\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">833-585-0144<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhtsa.gov\/vehicle-safety\/takata-recall-spotlight\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">More than 67 million Takata air bags<\/a>\u00a0have been recalled in tens of millions of vehicles across the United States. To date, NHTSA has confirmed that 28 people in the US have been killed by a defective Takata air bag that exploded. In addition, at least 400 people in the U.S. reportedly have been injured by exploding Takata air bag inflators.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Drivers are urged to check for recalls by:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Use NHTSA\u2019s\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhtsa.gov\/recalls\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Recalls Lookup Tool<\/a> to use your license plate number or vehicle identification number to search for any open safety recalls, including the urgent Takata recall.<\/li>\n<li>Download our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhtsa.gov\/campaign\/safercar-app\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">SaferCar app<\/a> and let it check automatically for you.<\/li>\n<li>If your vehicle does have a safety recall, call your automaker\u2019s local dealership to schedule the free recall repair.<\/li>\n<li>Sign up at\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhtsa.gov\/email-subscriptions\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NHTSA.gov\/Alerts<\/a> to be notified by email if your vehicle is affected by a future recall.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A \u201cdo not drive\u201d warning has been issued by FCA US for all remaining Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram vehicles with open and unrepaired Takata air bag recalls.
