{"id":15504,"date":"2026-05-20T15:00:08","date_gmt":"2026-05-20T15:00:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/edrivingcomstg.wpenginepowered.com\/three60\/?p=15504"},"modified":"2026-05-19T19:30:46","modified_gmt":"2026-05-19T19:30:46","slug":"click-it-or-ticket-seatbelt-campaign-launches-across-america","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/click-it-or-ticket-seatbelt-campaign-launches-across-america\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Click it or ticket\u2019 seatbelt campaign launches across America"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new campaign has been launched urging Americans to buckle up ahead of Memorial Day and the summer travel season.<\/p>\n<p>The US Transportation Department\u2019s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has announced its \u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhtsa.gov\/campaign\/click-it-or-ticket\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Click It or Ticket<\/a> initiative which runs until May 31.<\/p>\n<p>According to the NHTSA, unbuckled seatbelts accounted for a death in a passenger vehicle every 54 minutes in 2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBuckling up only takes a second, and that second could be the difference between life or death in a crash,\u201d said\u00a0NHTSA Administrator Jonathan Morrison.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re teaming up with law enforcement agencies nationwide to remind everyone to Click It or Ticket. Enforcing state and local seat belt laws will save countless lives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>State and local law enforcement will be ramping up patrols to ensure every passenger and driver is buckled on roads across America.<\/p>\n<p>Additional data from 2024 has revealed:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>59%\u00a0of young adults (18\u201334) killed in passenger vehicles were unbuckled\u2014among the highest rates of any age group<\/li>\n<li>Unbuckled men died more often than women in passenger vehicles (53%\u00a0vs.\u00a040%)<\/li>\n<li>More pickup truck occupants killed in a crash were unbuckled as compared to passengers (59%\u00a0vs.\u00a047%).<\/li>\n<li>While\u00a047%\u00a0of front-seat fatalities involved unbelted occupants, that number jumps to\u00a058%\u00a0for those in the back seat.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new campaign has been launched urging Americans to buckle up ahead of Memorial Day and the summer travel season.
