Drivers were also ticketed for unbuckled passengers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo other safety feature in your vehicle is more effective in reducing your risk of dying in a crash than wearing a seat belt, and it takes about three seconds,\u201d said Col. Matthew C. Packard, chief of the Colorado State Patrol.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe reality is that 191 people died in Colorado in 2025 while not wearing a seat belt. Their lives might have been saved if they invested three seconds in safety and buckled up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Colorado\u2019s average seat belt use rate is 90.7%, yet those who don\u2019t buckle up account for more than half of passenger vehicle fatalities.<\/p>\n<p>So far this year, 40 unbuckled vehicle passengers and drivers have died on Colorado roads, representing 51% of all passenger vehicle fatalities.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A crackdown on drivers failing to buckle up behind the wheel has taken place in Colorado.
