{"id":15610,"date":"2026-08-05T15:00:36","date_gmt":"2026-08-05T15:00:36","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/edrivingcomstg.wpenginepowered.com\/three60\/?p=15610"},"modified":"2026-08-04T17:10:50","modified_gmt":"2026-08-04T17:10:50","slug":"speed-catches-up-with-you-campaign","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/speed-catches-up-with-you-campaign\/","title":{"rendered":"\u2018Speed catches up with you\u2019 campaign"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The US Department of Transportation\u2019s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) held its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhtsa.gov\/campaign\/speeding-catches-up-with-you\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Speeding Catches Up with You<\/a>\u00a0campaign in July.<\/p>\n<p>The campaign aimed to educate Americans on the deadly consequences of speeding, which contributes to more than 10,000 deaths a year on the nation\u2019s roads.<\/p>\n<p>Speeding not only slows reaction times but also makes crashes more severe, leading to worse injuries and more deaths, said the NHTSA.<\/p>\n<p>In 2024,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/crashstats.nhtsa.dot.gov\/Api\/Public\/ViewPublication\/813823\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">11,288 people were killed<\/a>\u00a0in speeding-related crashes, accounting for 29% of all traffic fatalities, and an estimated 316,757 people were also injured.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/crashstats.nhtsa.dot.gov\/Api\/Public\/ViewPublication\/813829\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New early estimates for 2025<\/a>\u00a0released by NHTSA project an 11% decline in speeding-related fatalities with an estimated 10,035 deaths.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnless you\u2019re a racecar driver on the track, there\u2019s no excuse for speeding,\u201d said said\u00a0NHTSA Administrator Jonathan Morrison.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSpeeding puts everyone\u2019s lives at risk, making crashes more severe and less survivable.
