{"id":15648,"date":"2026-08-28T15:00:01","date_gmt":"2026-08-28T15:00:01","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/edrivingcomstg.wpenginepowered.com\/three60\/?p=15648"},"modified":"2026-08-24T17:46:13","modified_gmt":"2026-08-24T17:46:13","slug":"australias-largest-road-safety-event-goes-national","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/australias-largest-road-safety-event-goes-national\/","title":{"rendered":"Australia\u2019s largest road safety event goes national"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>More school students than ever before are set to benefit from a Sydney road safety event, as the program is expanded nationally.<\/p>\n<p>For the first time, bstreetsmart, Australia\u2019s largest road safety event, will deliver a school-based incursion program called Let\u2019s Talk, delivering road safety education directly to classrooms across Australia.<\/p>\n<p>In 2025 there were more than 350 people killed on New South Wales roads, with young people aged 17-25 years representing 9.6% of those deaths.<\/p>\n<p>bstreetsmart incorporates real-life simulated crash scenarios and personal testimonials to help educate future generations of drivers about road safety and reduce this statistic.<\/p>\n<p>It was founded in 2004 by Westmead Hospital trauma nurses Julie Seggie and Stephanie Wilson.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGetting behind the wheel is a moment of freedom, but it comes with a responsibility that can never be taken lightly,\u201d said Minister for Police and Counter-terrorism, Yasmin Catley.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNobody knows that better than our emergency services, who see the devastating consequences when things go wrong.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe need every young driver to remember that every choice behind the wheel matters.
