{"id":2647,"date":"2016-08-15T13:46:51","date_gmt":"2016-08-15T13:46:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.onemoresecond.net\/?p=2647"},"modified":"2016-08-15T13:46:51","modified_gmt":"2016-08-15T13:46:51","slug":"london-buses-display-real-time-traffic-updates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/london-buses-display-real-time-traffic-updates\/","title":{"rendered":"London buses display real-time traffic updates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The iconic London bus is helping to improve traffic in the Capital as Transport for London (TfL) starts a trial of displaying live traffic information on the back of buses.<\/p>\n<p>In a world first, a number of buses on route 344 are displaying real-time traffic information using digital information boards.<\/p>\n<p>This innovative technology is being trialled on buses between Clapham Junction and Liverpool Street to provide London\u2019s drivers with a new source of information to help avoid congestion and improve their journeys and the reliability and efficiency of the roads.<\/p>\n<p>The buses have been fitted with electronic boards which use GPS technology to give accurate and up-to-date traffic information. The information is taken from the TfL Variable Message Sign network, which is fed by TfL\u2019s 24-hour traffic control centre.<\/p>\n<p>If successful, this could be expanded across London.<\/p>\n<p>Garrett Emmerson, TfL\u2019s chief operating officer for surface transport, said: \u201cThis innovative use of one of the Capital\u2019s most iconic features &#8211; the London bus &#8211; will help all road users.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe&#8217;re focused on keeping London moving and on giving drivers real-time information through a range of channels to help them avoid congested roads and reduce wasted time and needless pollution from idling cars.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The iconic London bus is helping to improve traffic in the Capital as Transport for London (TfL) starts a trial of displaying live traffic information on the back of buses.
