Some drivers find travelling through roadworks stressful, especially if they result in a delayed journey. It is important to deal with roadworks correctly to avoid becoming stressed or irritated and to avoid putting yourself and others at risk.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/fleet\/\">eDriving Fleet<\/a> has put together a list of top 10 good practice tips for driving through roadworks to help drivers deal with the situation appropriately.<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>Plan ahead<\/strong> and allow extra time for your journey if know the route will involve roadworks.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Keep to the posted speed limit<\/strong> or below if more suitable for the conditions.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Look out for signs<\/strong> well in advance and get into the correct lane in good time. Avoid switching at the last moment to cut down on queuing.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Remain focused<\/strong> on the road ahead \u2013 not at what is going on with the roadworks.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Keep checking mirrors<\/strong> to remain aware of what others are doing around you.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Be alert<\/strong> for works traffic leaving or entering the road \u2013 look out for workers too.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Leave a safe distance<\/strong> between your vehicle and the one in front.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Observe all signs<\/strong> as you pass through roadworks.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Be aware of the road surface<\/strong>; it may change as you pass through roadworks and you may need to slow down even more.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Remain calm<\/strong>, regardless of how long it takes to pass through the roadworks. Remember that getting stressed or panicking about being late will NOT help you get through roadworks any quicker.<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Remember to take regular breaks from driving, even if you haven\u2019t travelled as far as you would have liked because of roadworks or other hold-ups.
