{"id":8113,"date":"2018-11-16T10:59:38","date_gmt":"2018-11-16T10:59:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/?p=8113"},"modified":"2018-11-16T10:59:38","modified_gmt":"2018-11-16T10:59:38","slug":"nhtsa-issues-thanksgiving-drive-sober-message","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/nhtsa-issues-thanksgiving-drive-sober-message\/","title":{"rendered":"NHTSA issues Thanksgiving \u201cDrive Sober\u201d message"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As millions of Americans prepare to travel on U.S. roads to spend the Thanksgiving holiday with friends and family, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nhtsa.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) <\/a>and its partners are appealing to travelers to drive sober.<\/p>\n<p>NHTSA statistics show that between 2013 and 2017, more than 800 people died in alcohol impaired driving collisions during the Thanksgiving holiday period (6 p.m. Wednesday to 5:59 a.m. Monday), making it one of the deadliest holiday on the roads.\u00a0The holiday is so closely associated with binge drinking that it has been referred to on social media as \u201cDrinksgiving\u201d. As part of its Thanksgiving safe driving campaign, NHTSA will post on social media using the hashtag #BoycottBlackoutWednesday to discourage driving drunk.
