{"id":8170,"date":"2018-12-11T16:48:37","date_gmt":"2018-12-11T16:48:37","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/?p=8170"},"modified":"2018-12-11T16:48:37","modified_gmt":"2018-12-11T16:48:37","slug":"fiat-panda-receives-zero-stars-in-euro-ncap-crash-tests","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/fiat-panda-receives-zero-stars-in-euro-ncap-crash-tests\/","title":{"rendered":"FIAT Panda receives zero stars in Euro NCAP crash tests"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The FIAT Panda has been given a zero-star rating by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.euroncap.com\/en\/results\/FIAT\/Panda\/34191\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Euro NCAP<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It is one of only two cars in EuroNCAP\u2019s history to be awarded zero stars; the other was the FIAT Punto in 2017.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is truly disappointing to see a brand-new car being put on sale in 2018 with no autonomous braking system and no lane assistance,\u201d said Euro NCAP Secretary General Michiel van Ratingen. \u201cIt is high time we saw a product from the FIAT-Chrysler group offering safety to rival its competitors.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The vehicle\u2019s only safety feature to score points in Euro NCAP\u2019s Safety Assist box was its seatbelt reminder. The safety of children seated in the rear was of specific concern, with the vehicle\u2019s Child Occupant Protection score of 16% falling significantly short of the industry average.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost troubling is that the FIAT Panda is seen as a good choice for young drivers and fledgling families,\u201d commented Matthew Avery, Director of Research, Thatcham Research. \u201cBut the only safety technology fitted were seatbelt reminders and the rear system failed to meet requirements, so wasn\u2019t even rated. Where budgets are tight, consider a safer small car second-hand, like the five-star SEAT Ibiza.<\/p>\n<p>Another poor performer in Euro NCAP\u2019s latest tests was the new Jeep Wrangler, which achieved just a one-star rating and a 50% Adult Occupant Protection score.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The FIAT Panda has been given a zero-star rating by Euro NCAP.
