A display of two crashed cars is being used to encourage drivers to take their own vehicles\u2019 safety into consideration.<\/p>\n
The unusual approach is being used by New South Wales (NSW) Government<\/a> and ANCAP<\/a> to raise awareness of safer vehicle choices as part of a national initiative to promote safer vehicle choices<\/a> in partnership with NSW Police<\/a> and the NRMA<\/a>.<\/p>\n \u201cDriver behavior and enforcement are key to saving lives on our roads, but one key element that is often overlooked is the safety of the vehicle you\u2019re in,\u201d said Michael Corboy, NSW Police Assistant Commissioner.<\/p>\n Families are advised to avoid assigning old family cars to novice drivers. And employers are urged to review their fleet and take action.<\/p>\n \u201cThe cars on display show the stark reality of how two different vehicles fare in the same crash,\u201d said James Goodwin, ANCAP Chief Executive. \u201cWe too often hear \u2018it won\u2019t happen to me\u2019, but it can and it does. It might not be your fault, but if you\u2019re in the safest vehicle you can be, you\u2019re giving yourself and your family the best chance at either avoiding or minimizing the consequences of a crash.\u201d<\/p>\n
