{"id":8582,"date":"2019-05-01T17:44:05","date_gmt":"2019-05-01T17:44:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/?p=8582"},"modified":"2019-05-09T13:21:49","modified_gmt":"2019-05-09T13:21:49","slug":"un-global-road-safety-week-calls-for-stronger-leadership","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/un-global-road-safety-week-calls-for-stronger-leadership\/","title":{"rendered":"UN Global Road Safety Week calls for stronger leadership"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Fifth UN Global Road Safety Week takes place 6-12 May\n2019 with the theme: \u201cleadership for road safety.\u201d <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This theme acknowledges that stronger leadership is needed\nto advance road safety in countries and communities worldwide. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The goal of the Week is to generate a demand from the public\nfor stronger leadership for road safety worldwide. Its objectives are to:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Provide an opportunity for civil society to generate demands for strong leadership for road safety, especially around concrete, evidence-based interventions which will save lives <\/li><li>Inspire leaders to act by showcasing examples of strong leadership for road safety within governments, international agencies, NGOs, foundations, schools and universities, and private companies, among others<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Targeted primarily at civil society organizations and\npolicy-makers in charge of road safety, the lead up to the Week will follow a\nphased approach highlighting the risks people face on their daily travels \u2013\n\u201cthis is my journey\u201d; the demands they generate based on these risks \u2013 \u201cthis is\nmy demand\u201d; and the ways that forceful and compelling leaders can work with\nthem to address these demands \u2013 \u201cthis is our solution\u201d. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Resources to help get involved in, and promote, UN Global\nRoad Safety Week are available below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unroadsafetyweek.org\/en\/home\">5th UN Global\nRoad Safety Week<\/a> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unroadsafetyweek.org\/uploads\/tekstblok\/speakup_get_involved_toolkit_comp.pdf\">Get Involved &#8211; Toolkit<\/a> <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Fifth UN Global Road Safety Week takes place 6-12 May 2019 with the theme: \u201cleadership for road safety.\u201d This theme acknowledges that stronger leadership is needed to advance road safety in countries and communities worldwide.
