{"id":8650,"date":"2019-05-15T17:47:09","date_gmt":"2019-05-15T17:47:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/?p=8650"},"modified":"2019-05-15T17:47:09","modified_gmt":"2019-05-15T17:47:09","slug":"road-safety-ranks-highest-transport-priority-for-rural-australians","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/road-safety-ranks-highest-transport-priority-for-rural-australians\/","title":{"rendered":"Road safety ranks highest transport priority for rural Australians"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.aaa.asn.au\/federal-election-2019\">An election survey<\/a> of more than 17,000 Australians has highlighted the difference in metropolitan and regional Australia\u2019s road and transport priorities.<\/p>\n<p>The survey \u2013 conducted by the Australian Automobile Association (AAA) throughout the election campaign \u2013 confirms that traffic congestion rates as the number one priority in metropolitan seats, but the biggest priority in rural and regional areas is road safety.<\/p>\n<p>The survey was conducted with the assistance of the organisation\u2019s state and territory clubs (the NRMA, RACV, RACQ, RAA, RAC, RACT and AANT) who represent eight million Australians.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen asked to rate their top transport priorities, 71 percent of metropolitan respondents singled out issues related to traffic congestion; but in rural and regional Australia, 63 percent cited road safety,\u201d said AAA Chief Executive Michael Bradley.<\/p>\n<p>The AAA\u2019s nationwide survey was part of the \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.aaa.asn.au\/federal-election-2019\">My Money.
