{"id":8716,"date":"2019-05-31T15:15:34","date_gmt":"2019-05-31T15:15:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/?p=8716"},"modified":"2019-05-31T15:15:34","modified_gmt":"2019-05-31T15:15:34","slug":"new-system-tells-michigan-parents-if-teen-driver-is-pulled-over","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/new-system-tells-michigan-parents-if-teen-driver-is-pulled-over\/","title":{"rendered":"New system tells Michigan parents if teen driver is pulled over"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Michigan Sheriff\u2019s Association (MSA) has developed a state-wide parental notification system that informs parents when their child has been pulled over by law enforcement.<\/p>\n<p>The goal of the system \u2013 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.misheriff.org\/programs\/stopped\/\">STOPPED<\/a> \u2013 is to reduce the number of young drivers who are involved in motor vehicle crashes.<\/p>\n<p>Parents can voluntarily register their vehicles with MSA online. They may register any vehicle \u2013 car, boat, ORV, moped, motorcycle \u2013 that will be operated by a driver under 21. An identification decal is issued by MSA and affixed to the top left corner of the rear windshield of the vehicle.<\/p>\n<p>If the vehicle is pulled over by a participating law enforcement agency while a driver under 21 is operating the vehicle, a notification is sent to the registered owner of the vehicle.
