{"id":8789,"date":"2019-06-25T19:50:23","date_gmt":"2019-06-25T19:50:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/?p=8789"},"modified":"2019-06-25T19:50:23","modified_gmt":"2019-06-25T19:50:23","slug":"motorcycle-safety-campaign-urges-riders-to-brush-up-on-skills","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.edriving.com\/three60\/motorcycle-safety-campaign-urges-riders-to-brush-up-on-skills\/","title":{"rendered":"Motorcycle safety campaign urges riders to brush up on skills"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new motorcycle safety campaign has been launched in Victoria, Australia to help address a tragic spike in motorcycle fatalities across the state.<\/p>\n<p>VicRoads, in partnership with the Transport Accident Commission has launched the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/alwayson.spokes.com.au\/\"><em>Every Second \u2013 Always On<\/em><\/a><em>\u00a0<\/em>campaign to encourage riders to brush up on their safe riding skills and knowledge.<\/p>\n<p>Across Victoria, 28 motorcyclists and passengers have lost their lives this year \u2013 11 more than during the same period last year.<\/p>\n<p>The campaign highlights the need for motorcyclists to be constantly vigilant and focuses on key contributors to crashes including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>speed<\/li>\n<li>cornering<\/li>\n<li>road positioning<\/li>\n<li>road hazards<\/li>\n<li>other road users.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>A <a href=\"http:\/\/alwayson.spokes.com.au\/\">new online quiz<\/a> enables motorcyclists to test and refresh their knowledge of safe riding behaviours and road rules.<\/p>\n<p>The <em>Every Second \u2013 Always On<\/em> campaign is part of a $1 million package, funded through the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vicroads.vic.gov.au\/safety-and-road-rules\/road-safety-programs\/motorcycle-safety-levy\">Motorcycle Safety Levy<\/a>, which is delivering a range of safety, education and rider mobility initiatives.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A new motorcycle safety campaign has been launched in Victoria, Australia to help address a tragic spike in motorcycle fatalities across the state.
